Cross-media publishing

Already since 1998 MedicDAT uses XML as technical standard for cross-media publishing. In combination with implemented workflow components various options for electronic publication and the production of printed media in medicine have been developed.

To transform conceptional strength of MedicDAT cross media publishing into publishing reality, MedicDAT developed the MedicWord editor as an authoring tool for medical texts.

Authors using MedicWord do not have to learn using a new text-processor. Look and feel of the MedicDAT editor reminds to standard Microsoft Word text-processing, nevertheless text, data and meta data can easily be processed without technical knowledge and syntax errors.

MedicWord data can easily be converted to MedicML being the basic XML-structure for MedicDAT cross media publishing. MedicDAT also provides modules for the XML based tagging of medical texts. So a medication-module and a MESH module exist allowing indexing and linking of documents according to medical reference databases and the Medical Subject Headings of the NLM.
